Grab an interface's IP from ifconfig without screen clutter
Sometimes, you don't really care about all the other information that ifconfig spits at you (however useful it may otherwise be). You just want an IP. This strips out all the crap and gives you exactly what you want.

Use nroff to view the man pages
Using nroff , it is possible to view the otherwise garbled man page with col command.

Convert seconds to [DD:][HH:]MM:SS

Find last 50 modified files

rgrep: recursive grep without .svn
Only excludes .svn from filenames.

Move files around local filesystem with tar without wasting space using an intermediate tarball.

run last command with root
you will be sad after you run a command and find out it needs root, so you should run it again but with prefix sudo. so this line is to make it simple. just 'sudo !!'
