File rotation without rename command
Rotates log files with "gz"-extension in a directory for 7 days and enumerates the number in file name. i.e.: logfile.1.gz > logfile.2.gz I needed this line due to the limitations on AIX Unix systems which do not ship with the rename command.

list block devices
Shows all block devices in a tree with descruptions of what they are.

Send email with curl and gmail
Required curl version >=7.21; using ~/.netrc for authorization

List just the executable files (or directories) in current directory
A bit shorter ;)

list txt files order by time
list all txt files order by time, newest first

Convert CSV to JSON
Replace 'csv_file.csv' with your filename.

List files size sorted and print total size in a human readable format without sort, awk and other commands.

List programs with open ports and connections
I prefer to use this and not the -n variety, so I get DNS-resolved hostnames. Nice when I'm trying to figure out who's got that port open.
