Every new command is wrapped in a tweet and posted to Twitter. Following the stream is a great way of staying abreast of the latest commands. For the more discerning, there are Twitter accounts for commands that get a minimum of 3 and 10 votes - that way only the great commands get tweeted.

To clear the terminal use the following:
tput clearBoth are better than mine, thanks
To be honest I can't imagine why somebody ever needs "several blank lines". To clear terminal, command 'clear' is used, or Ctrl+l if you need hotkey. If you want a script for studing try in zsh:
for i in {1..100};echo
It's very simple, sometimes you are digging inside very large logs (cat |grep stuff). Usually I leave several blank lines between two cat|grep so I could scroll and find them easily. If I use Ctrl+L or clear I can't do that.
BTW, I think tput clear has the same problem as Ctrl+L
