Find and copy scattered mp3 files into one directory

I used this command to recursively gather all mp3 files that were previously imported into their own directories (sorted by band name) in Songbird.

Quickly batch resize images

-geometry (preserves values of height and width given, and aspect ratio). WARNING: While 'resize' creates resized copies of original files, 'mogrify' works on the original files, replacing them. It will overwrite the source files, use with caution, and backup regularly.

Use curl on Windows to bulk-download the Savitabhabhi Comic Strip (for Adults)

Bulk downloads the comic strip JPG files for the adult cartoon Savitabhabhi, storing each set in it's own folder. Requires manual removal of "non-image" files that maybe created because each series may differ in length. The command can be easily adapted for UNIX flavours. You need to have cURL in your path.

Normalize volume in your mp3 library

Execute this in the root of your music library and this recurses through the directories and normalizes each folder containing mp3s as a batch. This assumes those folders hold an album each. The command "normalize-audio" may go by "normalize" on some systems.

Cleans all files in /tmp that have been accessed at least 2 days ago.

Ease your directory exploration

Usage : tt [OCCURRENCE] tt will display a tree from your actual path tt .svn will display only line containing .svn

Which processes are listening on a specific port (e.g. port 80)

swap out "80" for your port of interest. Can use port number or named ports e.g. "http"

revert a committed change in SVN

This command can be used to revert a particular changeset in the local copy. I find this useful because I frequently import files into the wrong directory. After the import it says "Committed revision 123" or similar. to revert this change in the working copy do: svn merge -c -123 . (don't forget the .) and then commit.

recursive transform all contents of files to lowercase

In this way it doesn't have problems with filenames with spaces.

Stream and copy a video from lan

Requires a listening port on HOST eg. "cat movie.mp4 | nc -l 1356 " (cat movie.mp4 | nc -l PORT) Useful if you're impatient and want to watch a movie immediately and download it at the same time without using extra bandwidth. You can't seek (it'll crash and kill the stream) but you can pause it.
