Using this command you can track a moment when usb device was attached.

Copy file to a Windows/Samba share without mounting it
This commando copies the file (which must reside in the current directory) to //<server>/<share-name>/<subdirectory>/<file> through the CIFS protocol (Samba share or Windows Share). It doesn't require you to mount the filesystem first. --directory "<subdirectory>" may be omitted in order to copy the file the the root of the share. The "%password" part may also be omitted. If doing so, smbclient will ask for the password interactively. To copy a file from a Windows/Samba share, change "put" for "get". $ smbclient --user=user%password --directory "<subdirectory>" --command "get <file>" //<server>/<share-name>

Perl One Liner to Generate a Random IP Address

Kill all processes belonging to a user
This is a 'killall' command equivalent where it is not available. Prior to executing it, set the environment variable USERNAME to the username, whose processes you want to kill or replace the username with the $USERNAME on the command above. Side effect: If any processes from other users, are running with a parameter of $USERNAME, they will be killed as well (assuming you are running this as root user) [-9] in square brackets at the end of the command is optional and strongly suggested to be your last resort. I do not like to use it as the killed process leaves a lot of mess behind.

finding cr-lf files aka dos files with ^M characters
Looking for carriage returns would also identify files with legacy mac line endings. To fix both types: $ perl -i -pe 's/\r\n?/\n/g' $(find . -type f -exec fgrep -l $'\r' "{}" \;)

Check reverse DNS

Console clock -- within screen
Configures screen to always display the clock in the last line (has to be configured only once). After that you not only have got the possibility to detach sessions and run them in background, but also have got a nice clock permanently on your screen.

Get the date for the last Saturday of a given month
If your locale has Monday as the first day of the week, like mine in the UK, change the two $7 into $6
