Convert ascii string to hex
Here's a version that uses perl. If you'd like a trailing newline: $ perl -pe 's/(.)/sprintf("\\x%x", ord($1))/eg; END {print "\n"}'

Beep siren
Infinitely plays beeps with sinusoidally changing sound frequency. Ideal for alarm on an event.

Exclude inserting a table from a sql import
Starting with a large MySQL dump file (*.sql) remove any lines that have inserts for the specified table. Sometimes one or two tables are very large and uneeded, eg. log tables. To exclude multiple tables you can get fancy with sed, or just run the command again on subsequently generated files.

Kill multiple instances of a running process

Count the number of characters in each line

Add sudo with shortcut alt+e in bash

The Chromium OS rootfs is mounted read-only. In developer mode you can disable the rootfs verification, enabling it to be modified.

My Programming Languages professor assigned my class a homework assignment where we had to write a Perl interpreter using Perl. I really like Python's interactive command line interpreter which inspired this Perl script.
