macOS: Save disk space by moving apps to external drives
Because Mac app bundles contain everything in one place, it makes running them from anywhere, including from a device such as a USB flash drive or external HDD, possible. So if your Mac has a mere 256GB of storage (as mine does), you can free up large quantities of disk space by storing apps like, say, Xcode on external devices.

find all open files by named process
lists all files that are opened by processess named $processname egrep 'w.+REG' is to filter out non file listings in lsof, awk to get the filenames, and sort | uniq to remove duplciation

Find usb device in realtime
Using this command you can track a moment when usb device was attached.

Copy a folder with progress with pv

Start screen in detached mode
Start screen in detached mode, i.e., already running on background. The command is optional, but what is the purpose on start a blank screen process that way? It's useful when invoking from a script (I manage to run many wget downloads in parallel, for example).

Show git log beautifully
Only show a short of important information inline ( include branch info ), and color this log tree.

Which processes are listening on a specific port (e.g. port 80)
swap out "80" for your port of interest. Can use port number or named ports e.g. "http"

Truncate 0.3 sec from an audio file using sox
Using this command one can cut a piece from the end of an audio file.
