jhead is a very nice tool to do all sorts of things with photographs, in a batch-oriented way. It has a specific function to rename files based on dates, and the format I used above was just an example.

Prepend text to a file

If you try to access cd - you go to the last folder you were in.

http://public-dns.info gives a list of online dns servers. you need to change the country in url (br in this url) with your country code. this command need some time to ping all IP in list.

Play radio stream with mplayer
Above command will play Virgin Radio Dubai

Simulate slow network connection locally
Replace 500ms by the desired delay. To remove it: sudo tc qdisc del dev lo root netem delay 500ms

check open ports without netstat or lsof

list files recursively by size

list all file extensions in a directory
If your grep doesn't have an -o option, you can use sed instead.
