Recursively Find Images, Convert to JPEGS and Delete
Simple command to convert a large number of images into jpeg-format. Will delete originals after conversion.

Make a ready-only filesystem ?writeable? by unionfs
First look into /etc/modules if you have unionfs (or squashfs) support. If not, add the modules. UnionFS combines two filesystems. If there is a need to write a file, /tmp/unioncache will be used to write files (first create that directory). Consolle based network interface monitor
ethstatus part of ethstatus package, is a consolle based monitor for network interfaces. Nicely display on screen a real time summary about bandwidth, speed and packets.

Convert from octal format to umask
Umask is obtained subtracting 7 from each cypher of octal format. I store octal perm format in an array,then for each element of array I subtract 7. The result is the umask.

Exit mc with 2 keystrokes
For those who like to hit instead of typing "exit" to leave the shell and find it annoying that it doesn't work in Midnight Commander, just press to switch to the subshell and now you can leave with

Bypass 1000 Entry limit of Active Directory with ldapsearch
That command bypass the entry limit specifing page results size, when the search arrive to the limit ldapsearch magically reiterate it from the last entry.

Create higher quality gif from videos
I had to compress it a bit to meet the 255 limit. See sample for full command (274) usage: ffgif foo.ext Supports 3 arguments (optional) ffgif filename seek_time time_duration scale ffgif foo 10 5 320 will seek 10 seconds in, convert for 5 seconds at a 320 scale. Jump to line X in file in Nano.
Starts the cursor on line X of file foo. Useful for longer files in which it takes a long time to scroll. If X is greater than the number of lines in file foo, it will go to the last existing line.
