File rotation without rename command
Rotates log files with "gz"-extension in a directory for 7 days and enumerates the number in file name. i.e.: logfile.1.gz > logfile.2.gz I needed this line due to the limitations on AIX Unix systems which do not ship with the rename command.

generate iso

find the 10 latest (modified) files
order the files by modification (thanks stanishjohnd) time, one file per output line and filter first 10

Extract audio from start to end position from a video
mplayer -vc null -vo null -ao pcm Firefly\ ep\ 10.avi -ss 195 -endpos 246 Will create file audiodump.wav with audio from second 195 to second 246 (the opnening theme).

Random Number Between 1 And X
If X is 5, it will about a number between 1 and 5 inclusive. This works in bash and zsh. If you want between 0 and 4, remove the +1.
